Just Kidding, I Actually Love You
The house represents the perfect couple.
Grandma-level wholesome.
I’m envisioning the house is filled with vintage-inspired decor but handled with a cohesive, modern flair of an urban couple. Visually, I enjoy the American - influenced retro interior design, mixed in with New Zealand classics.
An older house, either a bungalow or an art deco home, something that lends itself to being an appropriate canvas for us to layer our retro aesthetic onto. Think yellow and orange floral wallpaper, a brown wood formica coffee table, a wall of mirrors with scalloped edges. Crown Lynn everywhere. A collection of ceramic ducks. Potpourri.
This house is very extra. This production design is stylistically heightened, filled with character, colour and graphical shapes.

Location Specifications
Kitchen / Lounge
The specific element of the location is the layout of the kitchen / lounge. Essentially we need a kitchen that has an island that Sophie can hide behind. In the lay out of the room it should make sense that Sophie is coming from one side (bedroom or hallway) and the kitchen island is a midway point on the way to the exit (hallway or front door). There needs to be space opposite this kitchen island for a couch or sitting area to be facing the kitchen island. (Side note: we could switch the couch/sitting area for a dining table that Rob is sitting at. AND/OR we could switch the kitchen island for a dining table that Sophie is hiding behind.)
See examples below of kitchen / lounge layout that could work.
Bedroom & bathroom
Large is good. Colours are good. Some sort of visual interest/textures are good. Art Deco or Retro is good. Ideally the bedroom has a window out to a garden, or at least some sort of window. If the kitchen is visible from the bedroom that’s a plus but not a requirement.
Exterior
Preferably there is some sort of aesthetic or visually interesting front porch, or front step area that our hero can be waiting at. Ideally the front door is not a ranch slider. Extra points or having a cat flap in it. Also a glass door that could have sheers over it could be good (so we can see the cat but that she can escape unseen). Or if there was a window next to the front door that could be good.
